Feels So Good
A few blogs ago, I harvested Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) flowers growing in my yard and made an infusion using Extra Virgin Olive Oil. One month passed, with me giving my infusion a couple of shakes a day-actually shaking up the oil and flowers to keep the mix from separating. After a month, the infusion was ready to be strained.Everything you need: Infused oil, strainer, cup or bowl and gloves.
The finished product
I love Roman Chamomile oil, it can be used topically for irritated skin, rubbed on sore, tired muscles/body parts. At night I message it on my neck, chest and arms, the aroma helps me to fall asleep. Roman Chamomile oil can also be messaged on and around the abdomen to ease bloat and intestinal discomfort-I can attest to that.
After straining the flowers from the oil I had 1 cup of oil. I included 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E into the oil. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant, it prevents oil from going rancid and extends the shelf life of your oil.It is noted that Vitamin E will not prevent mold or bacteria so you need to watch for that. If possible, store oil in an amber glass bottle, the dark bottle will keep light from degrading oil. Store oil in a cool and dark spot. Last but not least, enjoy your oil!
Everyday I am thankful for the wonderful trees and plants that help us in so many ways. Thank you for coming on this journey with me.
